Roger Ele

Early days: After 14 years of mastering the art of black & white photography at The Camera Center in Sacramento and meeting the love of his life, Joan, Roger & Joan took a leap in 1987 and opened Eleakis Photography.

Building a legacy: While Joan held steady with a state job, Joan worked with Roger to build their studio, eventually welcoming Chantel Elder as his partner in creativity - to become Eleakis & Elder Photography.

Beyond the studio: Still madly in love with Joan, Roger is also a proud father of two daughters and grandfather to a "smashing" granddaughter. When not capturing life's moments, you'll find him with his dog Macy, going on hikes and playing Pokemon Go..

Art and soul: For over 40 years, Roger has woven his magic with light and shadow, capturing the essence of performances at the Sacramento Ballet and Opera. He is drawn to the "moments between the moments," the fleeting beauty of low light, and the timeless artistry of black & white. Animals hold a special place in his heart, too.

 

 

 

 

Chantel Elder

Hi and thanks for stopping by!

I am a photographer to start. I am a crazy obsessed dog mom to Sebastian aka "The Monster" and now that I think about it, there isn't a dog I have met and didn't love.  Some fun facts about me: 

  • I love a farmers market. When I travel it is one of the first things I seek out
  • I have a serious distaste for Barry Manilow...he weirds me out.
  • I love cheesecake so much that it haunts me in my sleep
  • Wine with my girlfriends is my most favorite guilty pleasure
  • I can't sing, so I dance... and I am not entirely sure if I do that very well either
  • I love shoes, and have quite a collection yet somehow I am always wearing black pointed flats
  • Currently I am obsessed with perfecting stone fruit galettes... what is that you ask? Basically a flat pie
  • If my choice is hambugers or hotdogs I will eat one of each
  • The sound of a skateboard on pavement makes my heart warm with teen nostalgia

Our History

In 1987, Roger Ele and Joan Stathakis-Ele dreamt of a photography studio that captured the beauty and emotions of life's moments. Thus, Eleakis Photography was born. In 2001, their talents expanded with the addition of Chantel Elder, whose artistry perfectly complements the team. In 2008, Chantel became a partner, and a new name, Eleakis & Elder Photography, emerged.

We're more than just photographers; we're storytellers. From the drama of the stage to the joy of families, we use our lenses to weave narratives that touch your heart.

  • Winner of the KCRA A-List competition in 2007.

Our Passions:

  • Supporting the arts: We've proudly served as the official photographers for over 30 years for the  Sacramento Opera and have done work for the Sacramento Ballet and Phiharmonic, capturing the magic of live performances.
  • Giving back to animals: The Sacramento SPCA holds a special place in our hearts. We believe every animal deserves a loving home and actively support their mission.

Beyond the lens:

  • We're active members of both the Professional Photographers of America and the Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley, constantly learning and collaborating with fellow artists. Roger even served as the past president of PPSV.
